ADHD

Consume a whole foods, plant based diet which includes fresh fruits, vegetables, nut & seeds, and whole grains. Fruits and vegetables should be prepared as close to natural as possible with a good percentage consumed as raw. Nuts and seeds should be only consumed in their raw, unroasted form.

Many individuals with ADHD suffer from an excess of copper or lead. Food that is high in vitamin C such as citrus fruit, will encourage the release of these toxins from the body.

Avoid all dairy products and any foods containing gluten. If pain in the stomach is experienced during the first 3 days of avoidance, this is normal. Also normal, are anxiety, clinginess, and temper tantrums.

Consume unsulfured blackstrap molasses daily for a good source of iron, a deficiency of which has been linked to short attention spans.

Consume 1 glass of clean water every two waking hours. For children under 10, half this amount is recommended.

Avoid simple sugars, refined carbohydrates, foods with coloring or dyes, and foods containing additives.

Very important is the consumption of breakfast every day, as this meal sets the biochemical balance for the rest of the day.

Include foods that are high in essential fatty acids for good brain function. These foods would include unroasted walnuts and almonds, fresh ground flaxseeds, cold-pressed oils such as hemp, pumpkin, flaxseed, and fresh wheat germ.

Avoid common allergenic foods such as wheat, dairy, corn, chocolate, peanuts, and soy.

Include fresh made vegetable juices in the diet to improve overall nutritional intake.

Ensure lots of exercise outside in the fresh air, and limit exposure to television, computer, or playing video games.

Emotional counseling may be necessary for healing, especially in cases of broken families or abuse.
